Chief of Air Staff Badeh Orders Probe of Helicopter Crash

The Nigerian Air Force yesterday lost another plane, a helicopter in a crash at Air Force Base in Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

A terse statement issued and signed by Group Capt Dele J Alonge on behalf of the Air Force authorities in Abuja stated that the Chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Alex Sabundu Badeh has set up a panel to investigate the circumstance that led to the unfortunate incident.  
 
It stated that a Nigerian Air Force Helicopter on a training exercise made an emergency landing yesterday in Port-Harcourt.

“A Nigerian Air Force Mi-24B Helicopter on a training exercise made an emergency landing today (yesterday) at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Port-Harcourt at about 10:00am. There was no casualty as all the crew members came out unhurt,” a part of the statement read.

 “The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal AS Badeh on receipt of the report has immediately constituted a team of experts to unravel the circumstances that led to the accident. Further details of the crash will be made known as investigation reveals.”

 The Nigerian Air Force early this week lost an Alpha Jet aircraft in an accident in Niamey, Niger Republic, killing two of its pilots, Squadron Leader Benjamin Bem Ado and Flying officer Ayuba Joab Layelmenson.
