Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi has dismissed the Commissioner of Environment in the state, Dr Paul Okorie, for acting inconsistently with his office mandate.

A statement signed by the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Chike Onwe, on Thursday in Abakaliki directed Okorie to handover all government documents and property at his disposal to the ministry’s permanent secretary.

The statement said the removal takes effect from Wednesday, August 7, 2013, as he ceases to be a member of the State Executive Council.

The statement said the decision to remove Okorie was reached during the council meeting on Wednesday.

Okorie had served as the Commissioner for Works and Transport in the state from 2007 to 2011.

Meanwhile, the governor had on July 13, 2013 sacked, Dr Nora Aloh, his Personal Assistant on Primary Health also for alleged acts inconsistent with the mandate of her office.
