The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis, Thursday, took another dimension, as the party suspended Senator Andy Uba and four others for refusing to honour the party’s summons.

Following the outcome of the party’s gubernatorial primaries in Anambra State, which produced two aspirants, the Andy Uba faction was accused of engaging in acts constituting breach of the party’s constitution.

Consequently, Senator Andy Ubah, his brother, Chief Chris Ubah, Ejike Oguebego, Chief Benji Udeozor and Mrs. Tonia Nwankwu were invited to appear before the National Working Committee for a preliminary hearing at the PDP National Secretariat, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja on Wednesday, 28th August 2013 at 10 am prompt to show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.

However, Andy Uba and the other suspended members shunned the party’s summons to Abuja and sought an injunction from a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt. The court ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept the outcome of the governorship primaries that produced Senator Andy Uba.

The party failed to heed the court order, suspended Andy Uba with four others including his brother, Chief Chris Uba, and the chairman of the faction of the party that produced him in the state, Ejike Oguebego, Benji Udeozor, and Tonia Nwankwu.

The party wrote a letter, signed by Acting National Secretary Remi Akintoye, on Thursday to each of the suspended members to inform them of the decision.

The party has since recognised the faction that produced Tony Nwoye as the governorship candidate in the same election to hold in November this year.
