The National Disciplinary Committee set up by Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur has recommended the expulsion of protagonists of the party’s breakaway faction, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Dr. Sam Sam Jaja.

The trio was suspended on 11th November 2013 for alleged involvement in antiparty activities. However, yesterday, Baraje who was the national chairman of nPDP; Jaja his deputy; and Oyinlola the national secretary joined others in literally emptying the nPDP into the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oyinolola, meanwhile, has continued to cling to the office of National Secretary of the ruling party, after a Court of Appeal in Abuja ordered his reinstatement on 6thNovember. Rather than reinstate him, PDP responded with a suspension.

Announcing the committee’s recommendation on Wednesday, Deputy Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Chief Ebenezer Babatope, pronounced Baraje, Oyinlola and Jaja guilty as charged. However, he singled out Senator Ibrahim Kazaure who was also suspended with the trio, saying his matter had been deferred for a month.

He confirmed, though, that Kazaure would still need to appear before the committee on 10th December 2013 to clarify certain issues relating to his case.

Oyinlola immediately responded to news of his expulsion, defiantly insisting that he remains the nation secretary of the party.
