Two persons were killed while several others sustained injuries in Kaduna, Kaduna State on Monday, when Speaker of the Federal House of Representative, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s convoy had an accident.

According to eye witnesses, the accident occurred when Tambuwal’s convoy, leaving one Deluxe Suites on Ali Akilu way, entered the busy road without taking proper measures. The nonchalant entry forced an oncoming commercial bus with Registration Number ‘Kano XA 863 FGE’ to break suddenly leading to multiple collisions from vehicles behind.

A Toyota Hiace registered with ‘XA 657 PAK’, while trying to avoid the collision, swerved off the road and ran into a concrete wall, instantly killing a lady and a man ― both were occupying the front seat ― while the driver and other passengers sustained injuries.

The injured were all taken to Barau Dikko Specialist Hospital.

However, Tambuwal’s spokesman, Imam Dalhatu Imam denied the convoy’s alleged role in the accident, saying that the advance party may have been the ones responsible for the crash. He said the speaker’s office was still awaiting details of the accident.

But Kaduna State Chairman of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhassan Haruna, having dispatched a representative to the scene, confirmed the accident.
