The Kaduna State Government has lifted the 24-hour curfew imposed in the capital after the two bomb explosions that hit the city on Wednesday, killing more than 80 people and injuring several others.

The two bomb explosions had apparently been failed attempt at taking the lives of two prominent Northerners: Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi and former Military Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd).

According to the state authority, one of the reasons for ordering the curfew was to curb the activities of hoodlums who usually ride on such incidents to foment troubles in the name of protesting.

Led by Governor Mukhtar Yero, a high-power delegation representing Kaduna State Government visited Buhari and Bauchi at their homes in Kaduna to sympathise with them. They also visited hospitals in the city to also sympathise with the victims of the bomb attacks.

The state’s commissioner of Information, Mr. Ben Bako told journalists in the state that government decided to lift the 24 hours curfew it earlier imposed because the situation has been assessed carefully and there is no longer a need for the action.

“We are satisfied with the security situation on ground,” Bako said. “The Governor has visited the former head of state, General Buhari and other victims of the bomb blast to sympathise with them. Everybody should go about their legitimate businesses and ensure that they are law abiding.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Anthony Sani, the former national publicity secretary of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and spokesperson of the Northern Delegates Forum (NDF), condemned the attacks, describing them as heinous and condemnable.
