The screening panel set up by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Saturday evening disqualified the acting Governor of Adamawa State, Umaru Fintiri, from contesting the October 11 governorship election in the state.

With this disqualification, he cannot be made the candidate of the PDP in the election.

The panel ,however, approved the qualification of former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu, and others.

Ribadu and two others including Buba Marwa, former Military governor of Lagos State, were on Friday granted waiver by the PDP.

The Chairman of the screening panel, Ibrahim Mantu, while briefing journalists at the end of the screening exercise on Saturday said Fintiri was disqualified on moral grounds.

In his words, “the acting governor should be the one to ensure that the election is free and fair and successful and not supposed to contest.”
