The presidency has faulted those criticizing the Nigerian Army in their fight against Boko Haram, saying anyone criticising them is betraying the sacrifices they are making to defend the nation.

The presidency encouraged Nigerians to pray for the troops instead of turning their backs on them in acts of betrayal.

Reno Omokri, the president’s special assistant on new media, expressed the presidency’s thoughts in a series of tweets via his handle @renoomokri on Monday, charging Nigerians to appreciate the efforts of the Military in defending the country, even if they have to pay the supreme price.

He also paid tribute to Flight Lt Aweke Nwakile who paid the supreme price defending the country from the onslaught of the insurgents.

“Join me in saluting Flight Lt. Akweke Nwakile. He died defending us from Boko Haram #Criticizeterroristsnotsoldiers ,” Omokri tweeted.

“The highest level of betrayal of troops risking life to defend us from Boko Haram is to criticize them instead of appreciating their efforts. At this very second, our troops are fighting Boko Haram in Bama. Pray for them and raise the morale of the @HQNigerianArmy by retweeting.”
