Men of the Nigeria Police on Wednesday rescued a national of Niger Republic, Adamu Gaya, who was allegedly linked to the ritual murder of a young girl, from being lynched by a mob in Kamba, Kebbi State.

The Police rescued and brought Gaya into protective custody, but demanding jungle justice, the enraged villagers attacked the Police Station and destroyed the communication base following their belief that the Police was shielding the suspect from facing justice.

The mob burnt two Police vehicles, and nine motorcycles, smashed the windscreens of four cars parked at the premises and razed the official residence of the Divisional Police Officer.

During the riotous protest, four persons lost their lives while 89 people have been arrested for the violence.

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has therefore warned citizens not to take laws into their hands but rather assist law enforcement officers in the maintenance of law and order in the society.
