Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has declared Thursday as public holiday in the state to accommodate a rally in support of President Goodluck Jonathan’s re-election.

A statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Chuks Ugwoke, said the holiday was to enable Enugu State citizens and other residents to participate fully in the rally in honour of the president as organised by the Enugu State Movement for the Re-election of President Jonathan.

The rally would hold at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu by 10:00 am and "all schools, markets, banks and other financial institutions, in Enugu State, will be closed on that date as a consequence of the work-free day," the statement said, advising relevant authorities to take note of the directive.
