A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday morning acquitted Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly of corruption charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

At the time of this report, there was jubilation at the court premises with lawmakers and loyalists of the Speaker hugging and dancing freely.

Ikuforiji had been standing trial  for laundering N500 million naira. But the case recently suffered a set back when the EFCC closed its case.

The acquittal of the Speaker has now gives him the privilege to fully begin his campaign ahead of the 2015 governorship election in which he had declared interest.

Details later.
