Gov. Lamido's son arrested for money laundering

Aminu, son of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state has been arrested by the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for attempting to smuggle foreign currency out of the country.

Aminu, who attempted to smuggle $40,000 out of the country, was arrested on Wednesday morning at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport while boarding  an Egyptian Air flight to Cairo.

The suspect, whose father is said to be interested in the presidential election of 2015, had declared $10,000 in his possession to the Nigerian Customs at the airport but a search conducted on him by operatives of the EFCC at the airport revealed that he had extra $40,000.

Aminu, who is still at an EFCC facility, may be arraigned very soon according to an EFCC source, who confirmed the incident to Huhuonline.com.
