Agro-Businessman Abducted In Ondo

The Executive Secretary of the Cocoa Association of Nigeria, Mr. Michael Adewunmi, has been abducted by unknown gunmen in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

He was abducted on Thursday night at Akinjo Junction, Oshokoti area of Akure, just a few days after the rescue of a traditional ruler from Akungba Akoko, who was earlier abducted on her way to attend an event at the federal University of Technology, Akure.

Witnesses said Adewunmi was picked, forced into a waiting car and driven off to an unknown destination. The kidnappers left the victim's black Toyota Lexus SUV with number plate: ONDO ANG 149 AA, at the scene.

The car was taken on Friday by men of the Nigeria Police Force to the Ijapo Police Station, Akure.

Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Police Command, Mr. Wole Ogodo, confirmed the incident adding that the police have begun investigation into the criminal act.

The family of victim have also not been contacted at the time of this report.
