Governor of Osun State, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Monday began a seven-day working visit to the United States of America to build partnerships that will position the state as a model for pragmatic and sustainable socioeconomic development in the country and beyond, and move it a step further towards fostering innovation in governance.

Aregbesola’s development agenda for Osun, centered on the six-point Integral Action Plan, is consistent with the Innovation in Governance and Economic Development Program of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, which he will be visiting.

He will be advancing his innovation and economic development efforts through meetings with the Harvard Kennedy School, academic institutions and potential investors.

“The development of human capacity is the most important responsibility of any serious Government. We are treading on this course progressively,” the governor said ahead of the trip.

During the trip, Governor Aregbesola will be speaking at several engagements, showcasing the achievements and opportunities in Osun as an investment destination in the global emerging market of Nigeria.

He is scheduled to visit Boston, Pittsburgh, and Washington, DC to rub minds and establish relationships with prestigious American institutions, such as the Harvard University, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, and Howard University in addition to meeting Africans in the Diaspora in an effort to leverage global resources for Osun. Select sessions (listed below) will be open to the public and streamed live at www.ustream.tv/channel/ogbeni-tv.

Several prominent organizations, such as Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard Weatherhead Centre for International Affairs, Africa Caucus at Harvard, Corporate Council on Africa, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, and Alliance of Nigerians in Diaspora, will be hosting the governor and the state for various events.
