Courts decline applications to restrain recognition of new Kano Emirate law

Justice Nura Sagir of Kano high court on Tuesday rejected the application filed by Kano’s prominent citizens seeking a court order to restrain recognition of the new Kano emirate laws.

The plaintiffs, includes presidential candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC), Arch. Bashir Usman Tofa, former Speaker of house of representatives, Rt. Honourable Ghali Umar Na’Abba, Professor Auwalu Hamisu Ya’dudu, a former legal adviser to late head of state General Sani Abacha, Abba Dabo and host of others, are challenging the Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Kano state house of Assembly on the creation of the new Kano emirate laws.

Similarly, Justice A.T Gbadamasi had earlier declined an oral application brought before him by Nasiru Dangiri SAN, counsel to Kano Kingmakers, seeking to extend an exparte order restraining Kano State governor Umar Ganduje, and seven others from recognizing the new Kano emirate laws.

By the two rulings, the laws established the new emirate councils and their first-class emirs is unhindered
