News

Eventually, President Muhammadu Buhari has waded into the crisis rocking the University of Lagos, and ordered the leading combatants, the pro-chancellor, Wale Babalakin, and the vice-chancellor, Prof Oluwatoyim Ogundipe, to step aside, while a special panel has been constituted to investigate the crisis rocking the university.

The special visitation panel set up will submit its report within two weeks.

President Buhari has also directed UMILAG Senate to meet to nominate an acting vice-chancellor form among its members for the confirmation of the university’s council, the Nigerian Television Authority reported late Friday.

The acting VC will be in office until the government finds a resolution to the crisis.

Members of the panel include Tukur Sa’ad as chairman, Victor Onuoha, Ikenna Oyindo, Ekanem Braide, Adamu K. Usman, Jimoh Bankole and Grace Ekanem, according to NTA.
