Bayelsa Govt regrets Fire at AIT/Ray Power Stations in Yenagoa

Reports

Bayelsa State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Deacon Markson Fefegha has described the fire that gutted parts of the transmission equipment of DAAR Communications, owners of AIT and Ray power, Yenagoa as unfortunate and sad.

Speaking shortly after an inspection tour of the communication facility, Deacon Fefegha, who was accompanied by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Daniel Iworiso Markson, said they were at DAAR COMMUNICATIONS on behalf of the state government to see the extent of damage caused by the inferno.

Describing DAAR COMMUNICATIONS as a partner in the dissemination of government’s programmes and policies, the commissioner assured the management of government’s support towards assuaging their plight.

He expressed regrets over the extent of damage caused by the fire, which destroyed most of the equipment resulting in the shutdown of the facility.

In their separate remarks, Heads of Station, AIT and Ray Power respectively, Mr. Ovieteme George and Mr. Winston Akpabio attributed the fire to an electrical fault that occurred at about 2am on Thursday.

They expressed the hope that as soon as funds are made available for repairs of the damaged equipment, the television and radio arms of the station can commence transmission over the weekend.
