Chinese Workers kidnapped in Bayelsa

Reports

Four Chinese citizens who are members of staff of Hyundai Fabrication Company in Bayelsa State have been kidnapped.

The abduction of the four workers — including the company’s Operations Manager, Mr. J. H. Lin — happened on Monday at Okpoama Island, in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa.

The kidnappers first blindfolded their hostages as other workers and onlookers watched helplessly, before they were taken to an unknown destination using a speedboat.

Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Police in the state, Mr. Fidelis Odunna (DSP), confirmed the abduction, saying fierce-looking, gun-wielding men arrived at the location of the company, took the workers hostage and whisked them away.

The Police, he explained, put up strategic security measures to forestall future occurrences, after immediately ordering its men and those of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) on a search-and-rescue mission into the creeks.
