The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Saturday finally suspended its nine-month-old industrial action with an instruction that all members of the union should resume work on Tuesday.

The suspension follows a meeting of the union's National Executive Council (NEC) in Abuja where a review of the strike action by the lecturers since October last year was carried out

The meeting had been prompted by an initial meeting the union held with the new Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, earlier in the week.

Both parties had declared that the meeting was successful.

The suspension of the strike was confirmed by Mr. Clement Chairman, the National Publicity Secretary of ASUP.
