The former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi has called on wealthy   indigenes of the state to support worthy causes that will elevate humanity.

He said this on Friday at the presentation of the cheque of N2million to Holy Name Secondary School, Umuchu.

Obi, who had earlier presented a cheque of N5million  to the school, said it gave him special happiness to  assist in building a better society through support to education, which he said was the most effective tool for competition in the world.

Describing children as the future of the society, he said that the only way to make that future meaningful was by investing in what will help to nurture that future such as education.

On how he has been able to raise the money to support different schools and  micro credit schemes through the churches, Obi said it was through appeals to organisations and individuals of goodwill.

When asked to comment on the reaction that followed his joining of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Obi replied wryly: "God gave us eyes in front to look forward and not backwards."
